Description |
In 2004 the City of Coral Springs constructed a 9/11 Memorial at the entrance of the Northwest Broward Regional Library. The memorial includes a plaque and a donated steel girder from the fallen World Trade Center. This online collection includes photos of construction and the dedication ceremony. The memorial site continues to be a place of remembrance for the community with an annual ceremony on the anniversary of the attacks. Various speakers over the years have included survivors, children, and parents of victims. City employee and facilitator of the memorial, Gina Orlando worked on the 98th floor of the World Trade Center and continues to make 9/11 awareness and education a priority. Large Plaque: September 11, 2001 Somerset County, PA New York, NY Washington, DC Through blurred eyes, we find the strength and courage to soar beyond the moment. We look to the future knowing we can never forget the past. God Bless America Plaque from Podium: September 11, 2001 Memorial At the center of this memorial is a piece of steel from the World Trade Center acquired by the City of Coral Springs on October 18, 2002. This piece is from one of the two towers that were taken from us on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. With this sacred memento let us never forget the innocent victims who died or were injured on that day. This memorial was dedicated on 9/11/04 |
