Ground breaking of the first citywide park, originally named Civic Park. The park was renamed Mullins Park in honor of the city's first elected Mayor, Lewie Mullins. Formerly the Assistant Vice-President of construction for Coral Ridge Properties, Mullins died after only ten months in office. Located in thew heart of the city, the site continues to be a community gathering place. It includes the center for the Arts, the Public Saftey Building, Sartory Senior Center, the Teen Center, the gymnasium, and the Museum of Coral Springs History.
